The Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, Bambang Soesatyo, presented Korindo Group Chairman Seung Eun Ho with an honor, a medal, and a plaque in recognition of his contribution, role, and consistency in growing Indonesia’s economy through the Korindo Group. The Korindo Group began a series of South Korean investments inland in 1969.

“Another reason for giving these medals is to honor the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and South Korea. This year marks 50 years since Indonesia and South Korea first established diplomatic relations. For nearly half a century, the Korindo Group has played an important role in maximizing the economic potential of our nation and improving the standard of living in the surrounding communities via the different business divisions it operates and the over 2.5 billion USD it has invested in various projects. In a press statement that was issued on Thursday (12/1/2023), the corporation known as Bamsoet, also known as Soesatyo, declared that the organization has over 20,000 employees, of whom 99 percent, or 19,800, are local workers.

Korindo Group’s business divisions and social responsibility efforts in Indonesia

The business divisions of the Korindo Group were next on his list, and they consisted of things like plantations, forestry and wood processing, paper manufacture, wind energy, heavy industry, logistics, commerce, real estate, and financial services. He concluded by saying that the Korindo Group had over a thousand employees.

“In addition to increasing local labor absorption, Korindo Group demonstrates its social responsibility by contributing to the development of social infrastructure and by actively participating in social and charitable activities across the nation through the Korindo Foundation.”

Bamsoet detailed the many projects that Korindo Group had completed on the mainland, including the construction of 9 PAUDs (a mix of playgrounds and kindergartens), 9 kindergartens, 13 elementary schools, 6 junior high schools, 3 high schools, and 2 libraries. Additionally, the company was responsible for the construction of religious buildings, such as the 23 mosques, 13 churches, and seven cathedrals that were built. The contribution made by the corporation, as well as its feeling of responsibility, is highlighted by the fact that it has assisted in the development of public facilities, the building of hospitals, the supply of study facilities and materials, and the granting of scholarships to tens of thousands of Indonesian pupils who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement.

“Not only that, but there are also environmental conservation actions, housing development assistance, community health facilities and service delivery, funding for MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises), humanitarian aid for victims of natural disasters, staple food allocation for the poor, personal protective equipment and logistics distribution for the COVID-19 pandemic, and many other initiatives that are consistently made throughout the country,” he stated.

Chairman Seung’s leadership crucial to Korindo Group’s success in Indonesia

Soesatyo added that Chairman Seung’s expertise as the company’s central figure and leader was essential to Korindo’s success in spearheading Korean business investments in Indonesia and promoting a wider economic partnership between the two countries. Without Chairman Seung’s guidance, it would not have been possible for Korindo to achieve its goals of promoting a wider economic partnership between the two countries.

In light of this, he hoped that these accolades and recognition would motivate Korindo Group to remain active and continue contributing to the nation’s economic recovery, which is presently in progress.

“The Korindo Group is also eager to contribute to the development of Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan. To ensure the prosperity of the city, the 800 hectares of Korindo’s 100,000 hectares of land in the region that will be used for industrial reasons will also be put to use for other purposes. This indicates how the economic diplomacy practiced by Korindo greatly contributes to the enhancement of bilateral ties and collaboration between our nation and Korea.
